1.3 TEACHING SYSTEM:
​
As what I observed in SMA Negeri 5 Kota, Jambi every subject has allotted time of one hour and thirty minutes of class. In
terms of teaching the students, the teachers used Indonesian language (Bahasa) except English subject. The teachers
in SMA N 5 uses technology in teaching but there are also some teacher's uses traditional method of teaching, it depends
on the subject they are teaching.

As what I observed in SMA 5 N Kota Jambi, the common learning resources that I saw were the white boards with white

1.6 CURRICULUM
The curriculum that was used by SMA 5 Negeri Kota Jambi is Curriculum 2013.
Curriculum 2013 is a form of integrated work between reconstruction of passing grade competence, suitability
and adequacy, expansion, advancement of the materials, learning revolution and evaluation reform.

1.7 TEACHING PLAN
​
I was amazed to my cooperating teacher because she has already lesson plan for all chapters from the book, the only thing
that she will do is to follow on what was the task she was written on the lesson plan. Fortunately, my cooperating teacher
really follows the methods that she wrote from her detailed lesson plan. I like her teaching method because she has many
activities that was given to the students, those activities really helped the students deeply understand the lesson.

TEACHING METHODS
Based on what I observed from the teachers of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Jambi, most of them are using traditional teaching
method and some of them also used Technology based teaching method.
OBSERVED FROM MY COOPERATING TEACHER:
Before the class started my cooperating teacher called someone to lead the prayer and after the prayer,she checked the
attendance of the students and she also checked if the classroom is clean. My cooperating is really expert in terms of
teaching because as what I observed she often make use of the textbook it seems like she already memorized what was written on the textbook. She also uses teaching method that is appropriate for the Grade XII students.

My cooperating is always prepared on the things that she uses for her discussion. The common learning materials that she
always brought were textbook, white board marker, white board and pictures. During her discussion about Genetic
diseases, she presented pictures of the different kinds of genetical diseases to the students.

PROCEDURES IN TEACHING
DAILY ROUTINES:

MOTIVATION:
In every teaching demonstration I always prepare a motivation/games for my students. The game is always related to
the topic. So during my teaching demonstration I used message relay as their game, I divided them into four groups,
each group has one show board and one white board marker. Each group also has one representative to answer the
picture being presented and relay to their respective members. The first group that answered correctly receives prizes.
This kind of activity can help me to catch the attention of the students, as well as it helps the learner to have prior
knowledge about the topic that I will be discussing.

LESSON PROPER:
1. Discuss and explain the various parts and functions of respiratory and digestive system.
2. I presented a video about the topic.
3. I let the students locate the various parts of respiratory and digestive system using the human anatomy model.
4. I gave activity for the students which illustrates how our respiratory and digestive system works.
PROCESSING STRATEGY:
1. I gave them two types of quizzes, the first part was the multiple choice and the second part was labeling the parts of
respiratory and digestive system.
2. I asked some questions regarding the topic to make sure that they really understand the lesson.
3. I asked one student to sum-up the lesson.

PROBLEM SOLVING
Since there are only few projectors available in the school, there were times that I did not use the projector because I
did not borrow it in advance. So the solution that I did was I booked ahead of time the technologies and other teaching
materials that I will use for my teaching demonstration.
​
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
In the classroom I really can't avoid misbehaved students like talking with their seatmates, always roam around the
classroom and most of all using of cellular phones while I am is discussing. So the thing that I did was I approached misbehaved students and told them that they will not do it again. And I always loudly says "Please keep silence".

Summary and Suggestions
​
PURPOSE OF PRACTICUM
The purpose of this practicum are the following:
1. Enhance our teaching skills and teaching strategies to the students.
2. Enhance our communication skills.
3. To be prepared in catering the different kinds of learners.
4. Apply the acquired knowledge, skills and culture from the receiving school and city.

PROCEDURES OF PRACTICUM
January 10 - WELCOMING CEREMONY (we met the supervisors and school heads of Universitas Jambi)
January 11 - PLACEMENT AT SCHOOL (we visited our receiving school which is SMA Negeri 5 Kota, Jambi)
January 14-15 - OBSERVATION (we observed our cooperating teacher on how they teach the students and also the
facilities and services available in the school)
January 16-27 - TEACHING AND ASSISTING ( on that week we started teaching the students and also assist our
cooperating teacher like checking the quizzes and assignments and preparing the instructional materials
to be use.
January 28-30 - EVALUATION (we observed by our cooperating teacher and supervisors on how the way we teach
and they will rate us based on our performance.
January 31 - SEMINAR (we asked some questions by our supervisor based on our teaching experiences)
February 1 -3 - REFLECTION & REPORT WRITING (we comply all the requirements required by this program)
February 4 - FAREWELL PROGRAM ( the receiving university gave us tokens and discuss our teaching experience with
the dean of the education department of Universitas Jambi. )

OUTCOMES OF PRACTICUM
Through this practicum here are the following outcomes that I observed to myself as a future teacher :

THE CHALLENGES OF PRACTICUM
Since I am teaching in Senior High School , the students are really know how to speak and understand English. So the
challenges that I experienced during my practicum was in terms of communicating my cooperating teacher because she
can only understand simple English. I need to make my grammar wrong so that she can understand what I am talking
about. And also the foods in Indonesia because most of the viands there are too spicy.

OVERALL IMPRESSION
Its a great feeling to be part of this SEAMEO program because I learned a lot of things through the experiences I
encountered in Jambi, Indonesia. Its helps me to become more ready in my teaching career soon and also there are lots of
my attitude being changed improved. I really want to recommend this program to other student who are taking teaching
courses because this will really help their teaching career become more colorful.

SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE IMPROVEMENT
Since this program is very well-organized, I can only suggest to SEAMEO to add another one or two months more because
for me, one month is not enough for practicum especially when we are attached with our students, its really hard to leave
them in a short span of time.
